AfD trains midwives in the Kapisa Province

Action for Development provides training for midwives in the Kapisa Province of Afghanistan.

From the 7th to the 13th of December 2019, AfD provided training to 20 midwives selected in the province of Kapisa; following our cascade-model approach, these midwives will train an additional number of midwives in their communities, for an estimated total of 100 midwives trained in the province by the end of the year.

The training included a two-day residency at the provincial hospital of Kapisa and it was officially recognized by the Ministry of Public Health of Afghanistan.

Action for Development’s efforts in supporting nurses and midwives in Afghanistan since 2014 is in line with the initiative launched by WHO for 2020; in fact, the World Health Assembly has designated 2020 the International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife. This year-long effort is to celebrate the work of nurses and midwives, highlight the challenging conditions they often face, and advocate for increased investments in the nursing and midwifery workforce.

Action for Development intends on continuing providing quality training to midwives in different provinces of Afghanistan throughout 2020.
